pad1960's Repro Premium Alnico Strat Pickup Set

This set was really designed just for me....

The story so far... Picked up an incredible 1967 Strat- Been prejudiced against these for so long- you know- CBS Headstock... Corporate Mismanagement...but didn't Jimi play one of these?? Anyway- this guitar seemed diferent. Obviously it was still 4-bolt, nitro finish, vintage style 3-way... And the pickups...THE PICKUPS... What was the magic? Was it the super lightweight body? almost 40 years of soulful playing? Hey- Maybe it was the pickups!!!

With the whole world chasing the 1957 Strat sound- I HAD TO figure out what was in these pickups. Actually it was nothing special- just good old fashioned 42 gauge Formvar wire, bevelled Alnico V polepieces, real fiber bobbins and white/black cloth wires. Fender had stopped potting these for a little while in 65-66, and when folks complained they only had beeswax around, so that's what they used.

We tried to recreate these as close as possible. My guitar is really hot, so we matched it exactly. A brawny 5.8K for the bridge, 5.5K mid, and 5.35K for the neck.

Even matched the black/white cloth leads- get yourself some tan masking tape and create a near-perfect 60's install!

Now RW/RP Middle pickup for hum cancelling in positions 2 and 4!!

Besides the cool features, these are based on our finest Strat pickups- We've taken our popular vintage Alnico pickups and added real fiber bobbins, authentic 42 gauge plain enamel wire, cloth leads, even premium German alnico rod magnets

We have spared no expense in designing these pickups-with all the vintage accoutrements:

  • 50's style black fiberboard bobbin
  • Beeswax potted for squeal-free performance
  • Reverse wound Middle pickup
  • Alnico 5 Magnets
  • Vintage style Beveled polepieces
  • Cloth covered leads
  • Wound quite hot to really drive an amp
  • Accurate 42 gauge Formvar plain enamel wire

For that round, sweet, fat vintage Strat® tone with plenty of bite. Custom designed to provide all the great vintage tone with an amazingly complex mid-high balance and THUNDEROUS low end. Going back and forth between these and a "VERY EXPENSIVE" set of "Boutique" pickups it was easy to notice the added sparkle, low end Womp and Stevie Ray "swamp" tone with the GFS pickups!

! I've installed about a bazillion pickups in Strats in the last 25 years, and I assure you that these pickups can hang with the best of the "Overwound Boutique" handmade pickups out there- really….
